New header

I got tired of the pre-made templates for Blogger and decided to try my hand at customizing the basic one with a header image of my own design. It took a few attempts but I arrived at a halfway decent one that I can live with for now. I may do some more and set it to random display with each page reloading. I didn't know you could do this with it. I found a blog with tips for the Google blogger. Google that phrase and you will find it with others.

No Smoking

I quit in 2001. This is from the Delaware Gazette in 1996. This basic gag has been done by two other well known cartoonists in the years after (coincidences) but I did it first. One by a strip cartoonist and one by a New Yorker tooner. I drew it best.

Old joke, new toon

228 cartoons posted in 2009, the first year of the blogging. It's been fun, I hope you enjoyed it. Blogapedia will start selling our blog content this year and hopefully all this "hard work" will have a pay off! In today's cartoon biz you have to diversify; well I guess that has always been the case but it has become more crucial now than ever. Publications are dying and newspapers aren't the holy grail they used to be. Garfield is crapping his pants (if he had pants). People still need cartoons as much if not more than ever before. The trick is how to make it pay for the artist or more appropriately, the TONS of artists out there. There are more cartoonists now than in the history of funny scribbles on paper. Let us hope that there will be a way for people to make a living at it even when all our news is delivered via an implant device in our inner ear. When my sinuses are clogged I can't get the Galaxy Idol channel.

Back to school

A person from Northern California asked to use this image for a website for their community school. I gave 'em permission. Aren't I the nice one.

Let's name him lunch

These are tough times. And tough times call for tough measures and tough breaks for tough meats which eventually turns into tough crap. Things are just generally tough!

An older one but still a good reminder that they will try and foist their next goon at us the very next time.

Goin' Down to Liberal Town...

A nice place to raise the kids. No screaming teabaggers in town halls, everyone is polite. The bankers will lend you money for your aroma therapy candle shoppe. Everyone has health insurance and Rush Limbaugh isn't carried by a single radio station. A town where everyone cares about each other.

For the righties out there

For all the dittoheads out there including BigFurBall who tried to prevent this cartoon from appearing on 'that' website. Normally I don't post toons showing a big lardass on the Chronicle but since this one shows in such a clear manner what motivates the average Dimbaugh fan, I am making an exception to that rule. You see, BigFatHat, you can't stop the truth in a free society no matter how hard you try. You say you're not guilty of hypocrisy? You boyo are the definition of it.

A republican's view of freedom or I owned iThinkiOwnTheWorldAsIf.com

I was recently asked for permission to post a cartoon of mine by a site called something like iThinkiOwnTheWorldAsIf.com. The cartoon is the one posted here which was done during the disastrous Bush Mistake. Everyone knows he is the dumbest president this country has ever seen, right, no argument there? Well now all these neokooks have been circulating the cartoon thinking it is about Obama and in their words, "It's the greatest political cartoon to ever be drawn!" That is until I tell them it was drawn in 2007 and is about their fearless leader Boris W. Boosh. One of their administrators removes the cartoon and replaces it with some photoshopped idiocy which then renders the whole thread meaningless. He then proceeds to attack me and change my links to other cartoons, one of which can be enjoyed by even a conservative. He then closes the thread so I cannot respond to his lame arguments but not until he goes on a rant about how the left is more apt to censor free speech that it doesn't like. Where he got that little tidbit probably rhymes with hizzass and no doubt is where all his information comes from. The utter and blatant hypocrisy is amazing to witness in action even for me. It all goes along perfectly with the founding fathers cartoon, illustrating much better than I could ever do, how the right will talk all day long of their love for freedom and then with their actions work to thwart those freedoms that the founders fought for. It's a sad commentary about a political party that has been co-opted by the fascist element. Lincoln, Eisenhower and most pre-Nixon republicans would turn away in disgust from the example of these GOPstains. And if you dems and progressives don't get out there and vote next election we are going to have a bunch more of them back in office! They are like weeds. If you aren't vigilant and keep spraying them they will come back even tougher than before!

To boldly go...
